As we are winding down 2015, I would like to share some insights of important aspects of our daily lives which I have personally observed and applied or helped others in the process during this year.
One of the biggest dilemmas we are faced with is making a decision of Yes or No. We spend a lot of time saying yes to things we really don’t feel aligned with. Or choose things that don’t keep us on our true path. But how do we know this?
Most of the time we only stay contemplating over things in our minds. However one of the best ways to assess this is to pay attention to what you feel in your body. Our body has a system that let us know that something doesn’t feel right. It might be pain, tension, shallow breathing and many other symptoms.
For example someone asks you to do something and you immediately feel a knot in your stomach on a physical level. And then you start thinking in your mind about how this doesn’t feel right . There comes a time to choose either against your ‘gut’ feeling or to follow it. A lot of times we will say Yes anyway out of obligation or wanting to feel included or not be judged by others. But what if this is doing more damage than good? You may not realize the damage in the immediate moment but over time it can begin to negatively impact your wellbeing.
Learning to listen to your own inner voice is important to keep you on your true path. It’s not always easy and others may not understand. However once you start learning to read the signs, understand what it means and how to work with it you will be able to be yourself, communicate better with others, reduce stress, make better decisions and have more energy and enjoyment.
Stay tuned for more reflections and learning points of 2015.
