How can I add new habits to my life?
The main thing to do here is to ensure you don’t get overwhelmed – if you try to do too much at once, you’re not taking actionable steps – and therefore you will almost certainly fail.
You may also have to change your mindset from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. This is because without a growth mindset – it can be very hard to… grow!
Why do I want to add more daily habits to my routine?
The most fundamental question we can ask ourselves is: why? You must always first understand why. If you want to do anything in life you want to fully understand why you want to do it before you even take on the task.
For example, one daily habit you may want to stop altogether is smoking. Ask yourself why do I want to give up smoking?
It is stressful to do so – in fact it can be incredibly difficult. If you don’t fully have the “why” in your head – you will never succeed in such a difficult task.
One example of a “why” would be because you want more time to spend with your family and friends, and your children, before you die. This is an incredibly potent why, and even if you don’t have children yet, this can be a very motivating factor towards stopping smoking.
What are some examples of daily habits for successful people – best daily habits to adopt
The main things you might want to add to your daily routine are:
- Working out
- Eating more healthily
- Learning a new skill
- Meditating daily
- Ensuring you get all the things you need to get done finished
- Taking time for yourself
These are all good and healthy daily habits that a lot of successful people practise. Daily habits are often the fundamental base upon which successful people build their successful lives. Due to daily time constraints – one of the most important factors is planning your day-to-day and having a schedule. This is part and parcel of creating new daily habits.
How to track your daily habits
One good method of ensuring you’re hitting all your relevant goals is to track your daily habits.
This is actually a relatively easy process. As I always recommend, you should keep a journal, and everyday you should look back at the end of the day to make sure you’re hitting all of your goals.
You can very easily incorporate tracking your daily life into this also – and by doing this, you will make sure that you are adding new, healthy, and success-orientated daily habits to your life.
How to remove negative daily habits from your life
Just as important as adding new healthy habits, you may also want to kick old ones. As mentioned previously in this article, smoking is a great example. There are many other examples, not all of them are to do with putting things in your body.
The best way to kick a bad habit is to first understand your why, and then after you should cold turkey it.
Just stop altogether, and no matter what happens, do not pick it up again. This is easier said than done, but as long as you understand your why you will eventually get to the point you want to be at.
