And when things start going wrong — when it feels like the world is against you and everything is conspiring against your happiness — it may be tough to maintain a good attitude. However, it is not impossible.
When things aren’t going as planned, it is all too easy to become caught up in a downward spiral of negativity. So, first and foremost, we must accept what is happening; we must acquire the art of acceptance, truly understanding that this is a temporary thing; it will not stay forever.
Once we have accepted the situation, we can begin to look for the silver lining.
It may be difficult to find positivity in difficult times, but it is there if we look hard enough. Maybe this experience is teaching us something valuable that we would never have learned otherwise. Or, maybe this experience is making us stronger, more resilient, and teaching us that we are capable of overcoming adversity.
Perhaps positivity can be found in new opportunities or simply the fact that you will go on to learn from this experience, making you wiser for future endeavors.
You can even find positivity by learning to train your mind
Training yourself to be happy, even when everything around you is going wrong, can help you sustain optimism in the long-term.
If positivity becomes a habit, it is no longer something that can be taken away from us; positivity becomes permanent and aids in defeating the negativity that surrounds us.
Practice Gratitude
Begin by concentrating on gratitude to mentally train yourself for positivity. Be grateful for all of the little things that are going well in your life; you will notice greater positivity as a result.
Keeping a gratitude journal may be your first step. Write down what you are grateful for each day.
Focus on your breathing
Another excellent strategy for increasing positivity is to concentrate on your breathing.
Visualize positivity in each inhale and exhale, and bring positivity into your body.
Deep breaths are recognized for their capacity to relax us and promote a positive feeling; you may even use this simple act of breathing to fight negative thoughts.
When everything feels like it’s going wrong, the last thing we want to do is be positive.
But by following these simple tips, you can train yourself to find positivity in the midst of negativity and adversity. With time and practice, positivity will become your natural response to difficult times, and you will be able to keep your head up high and maintain a positive attitude no matter what life throws your way.
